OUR INVESTMENTS START WITH PEOPLE.
A short interview with Dr. Meloni, director of Esposito Servizi Ecologici, Ingeco and I.M.G.2.

The vision of Esposito Servizi Ecologici – and of the group to which it belongs, together with Ingeco and the leader I.M.G.2 – is based on continuous development, an improvement linked to the means and equipment, but which starts above all with the most important resource: people. An approach that involves every area of the company, a point of view shared at every level of the company.
To understand better, we asked three questions to the administrator of Esposito Servizi Ecologici (and of the other companies in the group), Dr. Fabio Meloni.
Question – We live in a time where many companies are scared and many companies have blocked all sorts of investments.
You are moving against the trend. But what does it mean to invest in this particular period?
Dr Meloni – Investing in this period means believing in the future and as an entrepreneur I cannot help but do so. A crisis, as such, is a transitory phase and we believe in recovery and we want to be ready.
For companies that invest, it is a favorable period both from the point of view of access to credit and from the fiscal one and this allows us to respect the terms of our multi-year investment plan.
But the focus is not only on equipment or means but above all on people. We invested in people even during the pandemic: in the initial phase we gave a cash bonus to our employees, as a sign of recognition for their commitment to work despite the terrible situation we went through. Not that there was any need because they are people who have a strong sense of belonging. Investments will now continue to create better working environments and continuous training.
Our top management is all made up of people who have grown up within us. This is our culture!
I know it may seem strange that I talk about these issues in response to a question about investments, but in my view the priority investments are those that concern people.
Question – A new plant, new means, an investment that exceeds one million euros.
Are there already tangible results that confirm that you have made the right choice?
Dr Meloni – The industrialization process of the plant processes has allowed us to immediately optimize the processing times and to significantly impact the quality of the matrices resulting from the process.
One of the most interesting data is the greater quantity of waste that we are able to send for recovery, minimizing the disposal in landfill, optimizing among other things also this by sending waste with higher specific weights.
The modernization of the fleet is bringing us results in terms of efficiency and quality of service provided to our customers. Furthermore, maintenance costs have decreased significantly.
These excellent results, which support our choices, have led us to plan both a new plant line with very low energy impact for the Ingeco plant in Agrate and new equipment for the soil washing plant in Gorle. These are investments that, added to the continuation of the modernization of the truck fleet, will allow us to further and decisively reduce our impact on the environment and increase our treatment capacity. The second half of 2021 and the first half of 2022 will be very significant for our companies in these respects.
Question – You could say that efficiency is not a goal, but a continuous evolution.
How do you decide which direction to point the telescope?
We are in a constantly evolving market with constantly changing prospects, regulations and players.
Our direction is towards maximising recovery, of materials and energy, and towards energy efficiency. The project is based on the use of increasingly modern equipment that is effective and efficient and above all
versatile, to be able to respond quickly to market needs. The use of increasingly specialised manpower – which we train internally – is mainly aimed at the management and control phases of the plants. In doing so, we maximise the quantities sent for recovery, safeguarding our main resource as much as possible: our colleagues and collaborators.
Within these guidelines, our technical staff is constantly looking for the most innovative solutions.
