A THREE-WAY INVESTMENT: EFFICIENCY, CUSTOMERS AND ENVIRONMENT.
A new plant, two new vehicles and the distinctive attention to people, their skills and their needs: 2021 for Esposito Servizi Ecologici and the other companies in the group, the founder I.M.G.2 and the solid Ingeco, has started in an important way. With several new features and a total investment of over 1,000,000 euros.
There would be nothing strange about it: in the professional field, investing is probably the only known way to grow. On the other hand, we must consider that there are periods in which it is almost impossible to think of investing in equipment, in vehicles, in people, because the economy is shaky and every long-term perspective seems dominated by big question marks. And the period we are experiencing certainly fits fully into such a framework.
So why this investment? The answer is structured, but simpler than it may seem. But let’s leave it for the end and, first of all, let’s better understand what the company has invested in.
THE NEW SHREDDING PLANT.
The main innovation of 2021 by Esposito Servizi Ecologici is the new shredding plant with an hourly capacity of approximately 25 tons of waste. This is an important addition to the operational tools of the Gorle (BG) company, because it allows waste management to be optimized in three directions:
– improvement in the quality of non-recyclable waste to be sent to waste-to-energy plants.
– improvement in the use of landfill spaces.
– improvement in the transport of waste destined for landfill or waste-to-energy plants.
To go into more detail, the shredding plant works in two consecutive phases:
1) shredding phase: the machine reduces the size of the non-recyclable waste to a minimum, allowing for a selection (which occurs in phase 2) between types of waste.
2) screening phase: the smaller fractions are separated, which are mainly inert in matrix, therefore not suitable for waste-to-energy, and which have a higher specific weight.
At this point, we find ourselves with two types of waste:
– the smaller fraction (inert in matrix and high specific weight) will be sent to landfills, where this type of waste will occupy space more efficiently (preserving the few spaces available in landfills and therefore bringing more value to the entire waste management system).
– the remaining fraction will be transferred to waste-to-energy plants and will represent a higher quality material: since it does not contain inert matrices (which do not burn), it will be more suitable for waste-to-energy.
A further advantage is the lower environmental impact linked to transport: the volumetric reduction carried out by the shredding plant allows for an increase in the quantity of waste for each truck and, consequently, fewer trips are necessary, with related lower emissions.

TWO NEW VEHICLES.
Carrying out transport efficiently, optimising emissions and the quantity of waste transported, is an element of fundamental importance in the general framework of waste treatment and disposal management.
Therefore, the use of modern vehicles, potentially less polluting, and offering significant load capacity becomes essential. Over the last few months, Esposito Servizi Ecologici has responded to this need, expanding its fleet of vehicles with the addition of:
– a new 13.60 metre mobile floor truck, which will allow a further contribution to company operations, transporting large quantities of waste already optimised by the shredder.
– two new vehicles, which will allow for better rotation of resources.

WHY INVEST IN 2021?
At this point, let’s go back to the question we left hanging at the beginning of this article: given the difficult period we are experiencing, why this investment? There are many reasons (and we will explore them better in an interview with the CEO of I.M.G.2 and Esposito Servizi Ecologici, Fabio Meloni, which we will publish in a few weeks), but the real answer can be summarized simply: because it is the best thing to do. Invest. With the awareness of carrying out an important task, not surprisingly included in the list of essential activities. Invest to make your work more efficient. Invest to improve the quality of your service. Invest to offer the company’s people increasingly advanced tools to implement their skills. Invest with a sense of responsibility towards the market, the territory and your own role. With benefits for the company itself, for customers and for the environment.
